Re: IQAir Healthpro Plus Used Purchase Advice A Reader writes; Wow. I just got a used HealthPro Plus for $631.01 shipped from eBay (guaranteed to be used less than 4 weeks). Any tips on what I should check for when I get it? Obviously I want to see how much the filter has been used, is there a way to do that? Do you think I got a good deal?
Ed's ReplyHey Reader; Hmmm...it depends on how it was used for 4 weeks - detoxifying paint after a remodel job, or worse - a mercury contaminated dentist's office - vs normal residential installation. Sniff the exhaust for any hint of chemical smells. Any carbon filter can be damaged in a short exposure to heavy chemical levels. Turn it upside down and look at the bottom of the prefilter for discoloration (dark dust) or accumulated visible dust. Dis-assembly is easy once you do it the first time, but might not yield more clues. The V5 chem cell won't look any different regardless of load. The main HEPA should be fine after 1 month of all but the harshest industrial use. If the short term use is not of the above heavy nature, you got a deal. Many IQAirs are sold used after the filters are depleted - $300-400 to replace. Good Luck, Ed
