Re: BlueAir 270e A Reader writes: Hi Ed, Thank you for your help and great website. I think I may have mislead you a bit with my complaint of noise from my Blueair 270E. There is no mechanical noise at all when on the low setting, the only noise is from the cleaned air being forced out of the top vent which I find somewhat annoying - since it sounds like forced air - no whistling or squealing to report, even on higher settings (I do have very good hearing in the high end), not sure if the forced air noise is suppose to be included in the published DB's or not. I've decided to keep the Blueair for a time and give it a shot because of the following reasons: Both dust and odor sensors Electronic automated controls Lights go out on controls after three minutes (though need electrical tape over constant glowing Blueair blue dot) Filters down to .1 micron with a single filter Has zero ozone negative ion generator (which has no smell to it at all which makes me wonder if its really working) Only has one filter which does not need to be washed every few weeks or months like other units (which I would never do) Option for a carbon filter as a drop in replacement which I might try next even though I don't smoke to see if any extra benefit Has remote so if I really want to I can turn it off from desk or bed (though so far I've left it running 24/7 and have been able to sleep) 5 Year Warranty with registration Benefits noticed so far: Dust on surfaces in my room is dramatically reduced Odor sensor really works (came home from a steak house dinner and it kicked into high gear until my clothes didn't smell anymore) Easier breathing through my nose at night while in bed (the primary reason for the purchase) With all of my research, so far this is the only unit appropriate for a bedroom that I've found which has all of the above features. A few come close (like the Rabbit BioGS), but often have multiple filters, one or more of which need to be washed every 2-4 weeks or so. The only thing I would change/improve with the Blueair 270E is a way to turn down the fan to lower the forced air sound at night, some sort of 'when the lights are off' silent running mode. Best, A Reader
Ed's ReplyHey Reader;Good choice. Let me know how your Blueair works out after going through a filter or two. Good luck, Ed
