Re: www.airpodcleaner.com

A Reader writes:

I recently found out from our family pediatrician that my one year old son has allergies.

I have two large breed dogs that shed badly.

I was researching air purifiers and came across your website.

I found it very informative, but I also came across this website - http://www.airpodcleaner.com.

I was wondering if you have ever heard of this brand or have any info to assist my purchase.

Right now I was considering the Austin Air purifier and the airpod that you did a review on.

Thank you for your time and response,

Hey Reader;

"AirPodCleaner," at http://www.airpodcleaner.com, is one of a long list of rebranded Mitsubishi MHI-6800 air cleaners.

These are imported as the Multi-Tech XJ-3800 Intelli-Pro, and distributed under at least a half dozen brand names.

see my review;

Multi-Tech XJ-3800 Intelli-Pro Review.

I rate the machine 77/100, acceptable at prices below $160. Many sell this small air cleaner for up to $300.

I do not have confidence that the multiple technologies will last.

The only other airpod I know of was the now-discontinued Blueair Airpod desktop air cleaner.

Austin air costs more, is a bit loud, and their one-piece HEPA/carbon filter has cost issues with smoking, extremely humid areas like pools/spas/baths, and chemically contaminated households.

I will assume these do not apply to you, with a sick child.

The Austins allow you to vacuum dog hair and the like off the outside, and will last indefinitely when properly used.

Best luck with your new air cleaner,

Ed
